ABOUT
Established new-music ensembles, world premiere commissions, and New York's emerging classical performers are all part of the excitement of a ChamberMusicNY concert. From our Britten Centenary marathon in 2013 to this season's six concert series, ChamberMusicNY is presenting small ensembles in New York's premier halls... free. With the help of community programs including Goddard Riverside Community Center, USO-Metropolitan NY, Third Street Music School Settlement, Greenwich House, the YM-YWHA of Washington Heights/Inwood, Fountain House, JCC Manhattan and others, ChamberMusicNY distributes free tickets to audiences that may be unfamiliar with live chamber music.
Mission Statement:
To present free performances of chamber music, small contemporary ensembles, and jazz ensembles to the community and others who may not otherwise be able to experience these cultural events.
To employ local musicians and to utilize the concert halls and performance spaces in New York.
History and Certification:
Founded in 2012 as a way to introduce New Yorkers to the intimacy of live chamber music, ChamberMusicNY is a volunteer-staffed, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, EIN: 46-0839880. Our first and most recent IRS Form 990 filing for FY2020 will be linked as soon as available. Visit our Charities Registration (NYS) page to view our Registration Statement for Charitable Organizations, Bylaws, Certificate of Incorporation, and other informational documents.
The Mark Krivit New Music Fund
The Mark Krivit New Music Fund allows CMNY to provide restricted gifts solely for commissioning new music. The first commission was Danielle Eva Schwob's work for harp and string quartet Lights In The Dark, which premiered at the opening of the 2014-15 season. This season, CMNY and The Harlem Chamber Players co-commissioned Grammy-nominated Horn player and composer Jeffrey Scott, who is composing a work for orchestra and orator, to be premiered on April 21, 2016 at Merkin Concert Hall.
